Oppo F19s May Launch in India Soon: What We Know So Far

Oppo F19s may launch in India soon, says a new report citing industry sources. The smartphone may launch around the upcoming festive season. It will join the Oppo F19 series that already comprises the vanilla Oppo F19, the Oppo F19 Pro, and the Oppo F19 Pro+. It can be speculated that the Oppo F19s may borrow design elements and key specifications from the Oppo F19 series. The Oppo F19 Pro and the Oppo F19 Pro+ were launched in March, while the vanilla Oppo F19 was launched in April. All three smartphones run Android 11-based ColorOS 11 out-of-the-box.

Why Oppo F19s May Launch in India Soon

The report claims that Oppo F19s will be launched in India by August and will be priced at around Rs. 25,000 (roughly $380/€335). Previous reports suggested that the Oppo F19s and the Oppo F19 Pro will be unveiled in India at the 2018 Independence Day, which is scheduled to be celebrated on August 15. But the new report claims that the Oppo F19 and Oppo F19 Pro+ are currently not on sale in India, and the handset could be launched by August. In the same report, the leakster also claims that the Oppo F19 will not be made available for purchase via offline retail channels in the country. As per the leaked renders shared by tipster GSMArena, the Oppo F19s will feature a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) LCD display. It is likely to be powered by the company's own 2.

What We Know About The Upcoming Smartphone

As per a report by 91mobiles, the upcoming Oppo F19s is a mid-range smartphone featuring a 6.3-inch display. This is expected to be an OLED display, and the previous reports suggest that it will be manufactured by LG. It will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, but the report speculates that it will feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. However, the report also suggests that the F19s may have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It will have support for facial recognition. The smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. It will pack a 3,430mAh battery.

Analyzing The Competition

Recently, the Oppo F19 Pro was made available in some European markets with features such as VOOC flash charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. It will be interesting to see how the Oppo F19 series will differ when compared to the Oppo F19 Pro. The Oppo F19 Pro features a 6.4-inch Super Full Screen display with waterdrop-style notch. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, a dedicated AI engine, and 6GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with a microSD card slot that allows users to expand the phone's storage capacity by up to 256GB. Both the Oppo F19 and Oppo F19 Pro are fitted with a 24-megapixel selfie camera. The Oppo F19 Pro sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera while the Oppo F19 has a 16-megapixel front camera sensor.

Conclusion

To recall, the original Oppo F19 had a single camera on the back and a selfie camera on the front. However, the more recently launched Oppo F19 Pro model has a dual camera setup on the back. Now, it is possible that the Oppo F19s will feature a dual camera setup on the back as well. However, a single rear camera sensor is still likely to be on board. The Oppo F19 Plus and the Oppo F19 Pro sport 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors on the back. The notch on the Oppo F19 is a little larger than the ones on the Oppo F19 and the Oppo F19 Pro, however, the Oppo F19 Plus doesn't feature one at all. The Oppo F19 Pro and the Oppo F19 Pro+ are the only phones in the series to feature a screen-embedded fingerprint sensor.
